This is awesome news! I know Orlando needs money to go elsewhere, blah, blah, blah. Downtown Orlando needs this in order to host larger events that require a more state of the art theater, and this place is going to put other arts centers to shame.

Your kidding, right? Orlando is building a new basketball arena with 20,000 seats (still under construction) that can host large events. This new art center will consist of three halls with the largest one having 2,800 seats. This has been known and approved by Orlando and Orange County since mid-2007.

This performing arts center has been in jeopardy and basically in limbo lately if you have been keeping up with it. They were supposed to break ground THIS MONTH according to the original schedule, but without the funding it didn't happen. Some were speculating a very long delay, or even a possible cancellation (Orlando Weekly probably just complaining as usual). Now, the city has stepped in since they realize this is a integral part of the city's future. This is obviously a totally different venue for different type of events than the new Amway Center. I should not have said larger, rather more technologically advanced and refined to host broadway and theater, whereas the Bob Carr is dated and not up to par with other cities.
