Hello All,
I'm currently looking at making a change of scenery for my family and myself and we are discussing relocating to the Orlando area. While I've done quick search of job listings on some of the major job search engines (Monster, Dice, CareerBuilder, Indeed) and see there are deffinately jobs in my area of work, I'm looking for some insight into other local resources for job listing/resume posting for IT jobs.

Fortunately my current employment is stable and no immediate issues there, so I have the opportunity to take my time and seek out the opportunites that interest me, with no immediate need or deadline. Of course the next challenge will be getting people to actually look at a resume from out of state...

Thanks to all in advance.

Your best bet is to hit up companies websites directly. if you need a list of the major companies in the area do a search for "top 100 orlando companies" orlando sentinal should have a good list. The staffing firms here suck. And to be honest, the IT market here (meaning FL as a whole) is grossly under paid.

I've heard there's a lot of "high tech" stuff north of Orlando (perhaps Altamonte Springs / Lake Mary) and east of Orlando (UCF?). Also heard Tampa has good IT jobs, but I don't have any specific details. Wonder if it would be good to live near I-4, somewhere that would put you within less than a 60 min commute in either direction of workplaces.

Good luck. I have the same questions, but my timeline is about 5 years from now when, hopefully, the economy will have improved. I agree that IT salaries seem to be crap in the Orlando area, even compared only with other parts of the Southeast. Don't know if this is a function of the poor economy, or if salaries around Orlando are perpetually low.
