I only vaguely remember two Isuzu cars. One was the basis for the Chevy Nova and Geo Spectrum. The other was the basis for the Geo Storm. Always thought the Storm model had good looks but wasn't practice unless it was the two door hatch back version which looked strange. Also vaguely remember Isuzu having a model with a label that said handling or suspension by Lotus.
Back in 1993 or 1994, I bought a 4WD Isuzu Rodeo with my girlfriend (she's now my wife). I can remember at the time getting it because it was one of the more inexpensive SUVs. That Isuzu served me well with the 4WD, although since it was inexpensive I had to get out and lock the wheel hubs in order to put into and take it out of 4WD. Looking back on it, I had fewer problems with the Isuzu than I did with the Ford Explorer I bought to replace it.
I think the later Chevy Nova (the FWD models) were based on the Toyota Corolla. I think the Spectrum was also sold under the Chevy name for awhile if I am not mistaken and was same as the Isuzu, which I think was called the I-Mark.
1984 and back, the I-Mark was a different design and a pretty good car... there was also a Buick version, called the Opel. My dad had one and it was a good car.
This car was sold under several different names in different countries/years... here is more info on it.
