When patients see Louis Aronne, MD, past president of the Obesity Society and author of the forthcoming book The Skinny, they're as likely to have their sleep assessed as their eating habits. If patients are getting less than seven to eight hours, Dr. Aronne may prescribe more shut-eye rather than the latest diet or drug. With more sleep, he says, "they have a greater sense of fullness, and they'll spontaneously lose weight."
Why? University of Chicago researchers reported that sleep deprivation upsets our hormone balance, triggering both a decrease in leptin (which helps you feel full) and an increase of ghrelin (which triggers hunger). As a result, we think we're hungry even though we aren't—and so we eat. Indeed, sleep may be the cheapest and easiest obesity treatment there is.
This doesn't surprise me, GloryB. I have long thought that adequate sleep is the most underrated part of a healthy life and that the benefits of good sleep have been ignored in favor of healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. I used to conduct fitness classes for older women and I always told them that the Fountain of Youth lay in healthy eating, plenty of exercise and activity and adequate sleep.
I am painfully aware of the impact of chronic insomnia on one's assets. Sleep is a good tip. Now how about a tip on on how to get it if u aint gettin it regular Of course I mean sleep

Well, Gettin' it regular should help also!! But sleeping longer surely helps. I mean if your sleeping you're not eating!! Just remember if you're gettin' it you may not be sleeping ...enough!
P.S. I knew what you meant except for the "one's assets"
Interesting tip, I'll have to see if this helps. I've been gaining weight lately, even though I'm eating less right now. But I've also had insomnia, so maybe there IS a connection.
More sleep would sure be wonderful. Do they have any tips on how to get your kids to go to sleep and stay that way all night?
