We're closing in on another weekend. Happy Friday, kids! Today's Tip is an important one for all drivers who use cruise control. So scroll on down.....

CAUTION: NEVER USE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY!

Snow, ice, slush, and even rain can cause wheel-spin and loss of control - situations to which drivers must react quickly. Engaging your cruise control system during these hazardous conditions is dangerous and can cause you to lose control of your vehicle.

According to the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia’s web site, The only way to stop wheels from spinning and maintain control is to immediately reduce power. An activated cruise control system applies continuous power, keeping the wheels spinning. By the time you disengage the cruise control it may be too late - you may have already lost control.

Be safe out there, everyone!

No problem. No cruise control on wife's car yet. No snow and ice either, just heavy rain.

Talking .

For some of us we don’t need cruise control or a GPS system. We have spouses that tell us when to slow down, speed up, turn left or right. It’s never a problem unless you drive away from the last place you bought gas and left them inside the restroom.

Braking itself normally disengages the cruise control. But, I agree not best idea to use in wet or icy condition. I like full control when driving. My Surburban has a semi- anti-lock brake system I've yet to test in a bad situation. I use cruise control only for helping to maintain speed limit on highways! I ignore the peanut gallery when I'm driving!

This is a really good safety tip, especially with winter setting in. I don't drive with my cruise control on....I found out the hard way,the ditch is my enemy,, the seatbelt and airbag my friend.
