I got this e-mail tonight. What a low life SOB. Like why would they choose me of all people on the planet? I cannot wait to see what they come up with next...

Hello Buddy,
I hope my email meets you well. My name is sgt James Clayton jr. I am
in the Engineering military unit here in Baghdad in Iraq, with
Esophageal cancer which has defiled all forms of medical treatment, and right
now I have only about a few weeks/month to live, according to medical
experts. My late 2 collegues who died last week in a bomb blast and I
found a huge sum of $25 Million USD
(http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2988455.stm)
that we have sucessfully moved out of the country to spain via a
diplomatic courier service. I am contacting you because i want you to help
with claiming of this merchandise and help me distribute them to charity
organizations and homeless people.
I feel distributing the funds would be a way to appease the LORD and
also want God to be merciful to me and my late friends and also accept
our souls ,because we have killed so many in the war, but we where only
serving our country. I have decided to give this sum 0f $25 Million USD
to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good
deeds I do on earth.
I will want you to help me collect this consignment and dispatched it
to charity organizations like i have said earlier.I have set aside 30%
for you and your time. The most important thing is that can I TRUST you
Once the funds get to you?, and also would you distribute the rest 50%
to charity organizations?. Your own part of this deal is to contact the
DIPLOMATIC COURIER SERVICE on how the consignment can be released and
sent down to your home addresse and also find a safe place where the
funds can be kept. If you are interested I will furnish you with more
details.
But the whole process is simple and we must keep a low profile at all
times because if the authoritizes are aware of this funds,it would be
seized and used for purchasing ammunations and irrelevant
accessories, whereby we have so many sick, homeless kids dying with hunger..

I am awaiting your urgent response on my private email,

sgtjamesclayton@hotmail.com,

IN GOD WE TRUST!!!!

Regards.

SGT .JAMES CLAYTON

This is yet another version of the Nigerian/Algerian scam that has been making the rounds for years (since the 1920s, I just discovered via Google!). I just can't fathom how people would be so gullible and actually believe this nonsense! Of course, this person happens to have millions of dollars that they want to "park" somewhere, and would you do them this huge favor? Oh, and while you're at it, give them your social security number, your date of birth, your bank account numbers, your computer password, your firstborn...

Question What's more sad???

a) The people that do these types of scams ...or...
b) The people who fall for them (IMHO out of their own greed many times :-()

Hey Rance, you should definitely report this to someone (Postmaster General, your ISP provider, local newspaper???). This is a disgrace to our men and women who serve in the military!

I just happen to mark everything I found wrong with this.

Meets you well? How does an e-mail meet you well I just don't get that. The S on Sergeant is suppose to be capitalized. Sgt. Just like Junior. Jr.

The cancer has defiled all forms of medical treatment. That makes no sense.

Colleagues is spelled wrong.

Ain't it nice that everyone in the world uses the United States Dollar?

S-U-C-C-E-S-S that is how you spell success!

The "s" on Spain is not capitalized.

Claiming of this merchandise? They said it was money! Make up your mind. They for no reason capitalized all letters on Lord.

They misplaced the comma. You where only serving your country. Not were. Okay.

They used the number zero instead of an "o". 0f instead of Of. "O" is much more circular.

And yet, United States Dollars how nice of them to use our money.

Charity organizations instead of charitable organizations. And you don't even have to worry because they said "dispatched" which is past tense, they already did it so you don't have to worry.

There needs to be 2 spaces between the period and I. (earlier. I)

Wow 30%. Nice.

Shouldn't it be, "The most important thing is that I can trust you" Not can I trust you.

The "o" on once is capitalized, it's not a new sentence.

"You?, and" What is that suppose to be?

Okay so you're suppose to distribute the rest... 50% Uhm... What about the other 20% 50 + 30 = 80

Charity organizations again.

Stop yelling about your diplomatic courier service.

Address is spelled wrong.

You will furnish someone with more details. Not tell them. Whatever.

You usually don't start a new sentence with but. It's a no no in English class. How about "however" instead.

Authorities. Not what they spelled. And if they are aware of this funds,it. Missing a space.

Purchasing ammunations? Ammunation is a store in Grand Theft Auto. Ammunition.

The rest is just a lot of hooey. I'm pretty sure if I was getting shot at by people I'd be thinking of me selfishly.

And they put a period at the end of regards instead of a comma.

And again spelled the abbreviation of Sgt. wrong... AGAIN.

Actually if you still have the E-mail you should find the IP address and report it as a phishing problem.

And in reference to my previous post, keep your eyes out for simple errors like these.

Some of them are actually getting pretty good. I got one from pay pal... Problem.. I DONT HAVE A PAY PAL... OOPS.

Ronzou, you're so right about the pfishing. I get e-mails from E-Bay and PayPal all the time, and I don't have accounts with them. No respectable business is going to ask you via e-mail to re-enter your account # and password to "verify" your information! Delete, delete, delete!!!

Grr... I can't add to your reputation until I spread it around a little, but if I could, I would add 5 points. This was a great critique!

Now darned it Rance, he asked you to keep a low profile! This blows the whole wonderful charity project! The government will take their share! Don't you feel guilty?!?!
(since you all don't know me very well, read above in a sarcastic tone!)

That's right, Rance. How could you be so untrustworthy? Here you had the opportunity to help our troops, get this guy and his buds into heaven through God's easy payment plan and help thousands of others through charity and instead you chose to out the plan.
