Thumbs down GPS units

How about fumbling with those GPS units instead of paying attention to driving. Seems like there are more and more of those “stuck” to the windshield these days while the drivers are trying to recalibrate the destination location into them. Simply STUPID!

I'm totally with Aksarben on this one. I'm still old school who uses a paper map or atlas, route a trip before even leaving home.

I got stuck behind an idiot driver today on a 3 lane rd, at rush hour, where this joker was in the middle lane texting and driving all over the road at 5 mph. Both lanes of vehicles besides me were going at least 50 mph and traffic behind me was backed up a 1/4 mile. Finally a clearing and I got around him, blew my horn, told him to get off the road, and he looked at me like he was oblivious to the world around him and continued texting and weaving all over the road.
Idiot drivers.
It's been proven over and over that you can only concentrate on one function at a time, so texters turn it off and concentrate on your driving.

I definitely agree! I always take the phone away from my friends when they're driving. Either give the phone to me or ignore the phone. It works everytime, haha!

My favorite fantasy is to just imagine that cell phone blowing up in the idiot's hand while they are gabbing and driving.

I think talking on a cell phone while driving is one of the stupidest things a person can do. I cannot imagine anyone texting!!

The person I ride share with to work will hold his steering wheel with his legs while he "checks his msgs".

And yes, I tell him he is an idiot.

LOL. When I look into other cars I see this ALL the time...Especially amongst men.

They just made texting while driving illegal in Texas a few months ago, and talking on cell phones illegal in school zones.

Not that any one obeys those laws, but still, it's a step in the right direction!!!

It's certainly a good peeve. I agree with satx -- "anything and driving" is bad. People are so darned thoughtless and inconsiderate. I spent 25 years investigating accidents, and maybe if everyone could see the crash scene and morgue photographs that I've seen they might think twice about telephoning or texting while driving.
