Russia is seeking to officially declare beer - currently classified as food - an alcoholic beverage, a designation that would allow it to be taxed and restricted.

It's an attempt to curb alcoholism; beer sales have tripled in the last 15 years.

That's an interesting fact tijlover. Somehow I doubt that it will workMost people who have addictions don't quit because of "taxation by government"--they quit because of "taxation of body and soul". It won't curb alcoholism, but it will increase revenue to the government...
