While I am a little nervous about the repercussions, I do think it needed to happen, and I have faith that the military went about it in such a way that the impact should be minimal.

I hope families of the victims of 911 are able to find a bit of peace with this news.

I hope there will be more detailed information forthcoming soon. There are many details yet to be released.

As a former dialysis nurse I am particularly interested in the condition of his health. Did he really have kidney failure? This has never been definitely confirmed and this inquiring mind would like to know.

Burial at sea was a good idea. Now his followers have no place to assemble as a rallying place.

We have to remember the words of Jesus mentioned in the Book Of Mathew, 26:52: He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword. Another similar scripture was also in the Old Testament, in the Book Of Jeremiah, 42:22, these scriptures are the perfect examples for those who commit horrific acts of any kind, not just Bin Laden.

I just read an AP article that says DNA has confirmed it was Osama Bin Laden that was killed when US invaded his hide out... The article says they are not going to release pics. Bin Laden was shot in the head.

This is good news, and yet bad news too, because he was not the only leader of A.Q., and who knows what shall happen next...

He was little more than a figurehead in recent years--living in a compound with no communication with the outside world except by courier. That alone would have made it difficult for him to be involved in any strategic planning in terrorist attacks.

This is one of those seminal moments in history that everyone will remember where they were and what they were doing when they first got the news.

Same way they identified the WTC victims--think back and remember those long, long lines of family members waiting to give cheek swabs!

Bin Laden is one of 60 siblings, some of whom live in the US. (Or some large number like that.)

The best part of the military operation, which is certainly the greatest news for all of us, and the families of those who conducted the military operation, there were No Casualties on our side. The only casualties were Bin Laden, and a couple of others who were with him. That was a very dangerous operation, in a very dangerous area, but it was conducted very successfully, and with a perfect outcome.
