In Europe, twenty- twelve could mean Dec. 20, but the problem with "two thousand twelve" is it's a little awkward to say for some people soo...

Twenty twelve. We didn't say "one thousand nine hundred eighty nine" for 1989, we said "nineteen eighty-nine". Same principle.

I find myself saying it both ways, two-thousand and twelve, and twenty-twelve.

I say twenty twelve. intersting this lady I know when referring to something in the past she says" Oh that happened in 207" What? I said two thousand seven!
