Happy Friday, kids! Scroll on down for Today's Tip.

SILENCE YOUR SLIDING DOOR!

If you have a sliding door that leads to your deck or patio, it's inevitable that somewhere along the line it's going to stick and/or squeak when you slide it. Don't you hate when that happens? Well, not to worry. Here's a way you can make your door slide smoothly and quietly.

First, vacuum the track and bottom of the door to get out as much grit as possible. Then wash and dry the track. (Clean half the track, then open the door and clean the other half of the track.)

After the track is dry, take a bar of paraffin wax and run it over the track. Paraffin is available in supermarkets and drugstores. It's inexpensive and will last for years.

By the way, some people may suggest using a bar of soap on the track, but it's better to use paraffin. Paraffin will not make the surface slippery, and if you have pets it won't harm them if they happen to lick the track.

Good tip. I also use one of those cans of air to blow out the little particles that the vacuum doesn't get.

That's a very good tip Pam.

The doors are nice and wide open at the moment with the lovely weather that we are having.

I don't have a sliding door but I do have windows that are pretty tough to push up so I may try this on them instead. Thanks Pam!

My sister replaced a sliding door a few years ago because it was sticking so much. I think she probably could have used this trick and saved herself a chunk of money.
