Twice in the last few weeks my wife and I have been woken up in the middle of the night by the ringing of the doorbell, pounding on the door, and voices and shouting outside. We live in an apartment building with a door facing the outside with limited security. It's a huge complex with almost 500 apartments in a very nice upper middle class neighborhood.
We don't have any friends or relatives who would come to our home at that hour.
What would you do if someone keeps ringing your doorbell and makes all kinds of noise outside your door?
I did knock loudly on my neighbor's door late one night because he had left his garage door open and I didn't want his stuff to get stolen. His BF answered and looked put out about it. But neighbor thanked me the next time he saw me.
Do you have a peep hole? If not, then don't answer. Sadly, we are living in a new era where answering the door without knowing who's knocking can end badly. I just read about a person who answered their door because a person wanted directions. It ended up being 3 people at the door(including a man on parole) they tied up the family in the home and robbed them.
If we acted like we heard them and showed fear or even told them we were home maybe that would open us up for further harassment. We don't own a gun and don't believe in them.
Of all people, YOU are worried about harassment? LMBFDAO.
I hope they keep doing it. It's about time somebody stepped in to make your life the same hell you make for others.
