A "Yes-No" doll. It had one button in the front and one button in the back of its body. When you pressed the button on the front, the doll would nod "yes." The button in the back would make it shake its head "no." One of the buttons stopped working very soon after I got the doll, and it would only say "no." What a disappointment!
Well, if you didn't break off it's arms you wouldn't have been disappointed.
I don't know which birthday was what but I think every year until I was about 12 I received a Barbie doll or some kind of accessory to go with them. Loved my Barbies, one year I got a really cool fold-up house that I had a lot of fun with and my Barbie collection grew to about 12 dolls. It was so much fun dressing them in their cute little clothes and high heels. I had all of them until a few years ago when I gave them to a little girl who would appreciate them, she didn't have much so she was thrilled to get them.
For my sixth or seventh birthday, I remember getting the Littlechap Family set of dolls, by Remco. I remember the song for the toy on the TV commercial, Here is little Libby... I was looking at pictures of the family on the internet, the mother and father dolls look rather incestual. I read that they were created to look like President Kennedy and his wife Jackie. The dolls were discontinued after Kennedy's assassination.
The first thing I remember getting as a child was one of those little red wagons for kids that you can pull around but I can't remember if that was a birthday present or just something my parents bought for me.
I remember being 4 when I received my first set of skis and a Bavarian wooden snow sled. That was the start of me learning how to ski and sliding down hills
