Sorry, but some of us don't spend 17 hours a day on a message board to know what all of the internet abbreviations mean. In my opinion, many people who use the not-so-common acronyms in their posts are too lazy to type the appropriate word. It also shows lack of respect for the forums and intimidates other posters. Abbreviations such as "LOL", "BRB", & "IMO" are quite common and most of us generally know what they mean, but when people start using words like "DH", it can get confusing. Why should I have to go out of my way to find out what certain abbreviations mean just because the poster is too lazy to type the appropriate word?

Besides, something like "DH" can mean a few different things according to the Internet Abbreviations Dictionary:

DH - Deaf Hubby
DH - Dear Hubby
DH - Dear Husband
DH - (censored) Head
DH - Dumb Hubby

I am thankful that you posted ditto, cause I didn't know that there was a Internet Abbreviations Dictionary!

Besides, it's not really our fault that you don't spend 17 hours a day on message boards, now is it?

So, um, what is this BRB?

been real boring
being really brief
besides, reality bites
both real brothers
but regarding B
Bob's really bad
Betty's really badder
Bill's really bald
being rosebud
big red beard

Absolutely clueless here - did I even come close?

I use to play a internet game called Acrophobia.
The system would put up an acronym the winner chooses the subject then the other players would try to create the best match and then it was voted on by the members on who had the best then they would have the opprotunity to pick an acronym. In each game whoever was the top two would have a square off for the winner.

I just dont understand the use of symbols like dh on a forum since everything else is spelled out a chat room or text message seems more logical.
