Very good short story. But if someone was kind enough to do what this man did, I would have tipped him a little more.

Fast-food worker returns $185,000 check - Yahoo! News (broken link)

Maybe at the very least a Ben Franklin would have been nice, plus his choice of dinner to his favorite restraunt or something.

Okay, first of all he it's not like he picked up 185k in cash and turned it in. It was a check, he couldn't have cashed it. Secondly, if he didn't turn it in and just got rid of it, the people wouldn't have lost their money, they'd simply need to have a stop put on the check and get another one made up. Thirdly, why would you think appropriate behavior deserves any more of a reward than he got? Personally, I think $50 for taking the time to return the check was more than generous.

50 bucks is nice and more than generous.
One shouldn't have to reward someone for being moral.

True. I don't think I would have accepted the $50.

Someone tried to give me a rewerd one time for finding their dog. I did not accept it - I was just glad to see the dog back with his owner.

I found 100 bill one time when I was working at Dillard's. I took it to customer service and gave it to them in case anyone was looking for it. Word got around the store that I found it and on one of the floors, there was a woman freaking out that she had lost some money. She got her money back and wanted to give me half of it. I didn't accept but the next day I came into work and there was a flower arrangement, balloon and card thanking me for turning in the money.
I felt good about her getting the money back but I didn't expect anything in return.
