Mine are all gone the technology has moved on. Some seem to feel the sound quality was better but I recall all the crackling and popping. It got better with better equipment later. Digital is good enough for me.
Look at you Mr. 75 stars, I loved my old stereo equipment...awesome stuff
My last system was a Zenith Allegro, turntable and 8 track quadraphonic tape player. Had an Excellent receiver for broadcasts that never took off. I finally stripped the system out and chunked the cabinet. (really nice early American) I was gonna install it elsewhere but it's been in the weather now.
I've never really been one for vinyl, as I prefer CD. I have about 400 of them in my room right now. To me, vinyl is just too expensive and bulky. I know you can get plenty of equipment and albums for cheap, but it's not really something for me. Our local FYE sells new records, some albums are ridiculously expensive and don't even contain all the tracks from the deluxe edition. For example, I was there today and they wanted $31 for The Blessed Unrest by Sara Bareilles
I've cranked a few of those old Victrolas. Handled many of those old thick records/albums. Had hand fulls of those old needles. Wish I had kept all that I had access to as a child.
I have Acetate & Vinyl in thirty three & third along with 78 and 45's...plus cereal box records... plus do-wop -- rock-n-roll ... I am a pack rat..
