Do You Miss Former City-Data Members? [MERGED] (gossip, relatives, messages)

I do. Sometimes when I read particular forums like food, music and so on, I think of people who used to post there regularly. Some of them passed, a few said they wouldn't be posting for a while and never came back, and most just disappeared. I wonder what happened to them.

Yes I've noticed about 200 old time regular members have disappeared over the last 2-3 years.

A lot of people got fed up with the anti-social behavior of some members and their gossip, rumors, and manipulation.

I say don't let the turkeys win. And I'm not talking about Thanksgiving dinner.

I think some people forget about the Ignore function of this forum, and move on! Eliminating those that consistently irritate you, with mindless posts, might have helped to keep some of them around!

I don't look at my Friends list, until someone wants to be added to, and I recently reviewed my Friends list and there were a number of them I haven't read a post from for ages!

That's a good idea, but I believe it's against the TOS to post "Goodbye, I'm leaving" messages.

When old threads are revived, from 5 or 6 years ago, I read the names and remember all the laughs and fun posts.

Life is constantly changing so I think many people just get busy with other things in their lives. In the case of older folks, they may get sick or even pass on.

When I see those threads I hardly recognize anyone. I guess most lose interest after a while...
