As a very little girl I was entranced by a TV commercial for now-defunct cereal called Sugar Jets. Sugar Jets were corn puffs like Kix, but glazed with sugar. (In the good old days, it was OK to actually say the word "sugar." )
The commercial showed a cartoon boy eating Sugar Jets and then zooming around in outer space. I became convinced that Sugar Jets could make you fly! So I begged my mother to buy some, and she did.
When the happy day arrived that I had my first bowl of Sugar Jets, I was all prepared to take off from an armchair in the living room. I even put socks on my hands to act as wings and increase my aerodynamic lift!
Needless to say, when I jumped off the chair nothing happened. What a disappointment. I've been a cynic ever since.

I'm impressed with the ability of the people who make the odd things to get my interest like the lady with the no stick square frying pan when I hardly ever cook, Chia Trump, Obama, Clinton and Sanders which is just funny, the gizmo that opens jars easily, etc.. Luckily, for me, my TV and desktop computer are in different rooms and I am unable to remember the URL to make an impulse buy. I don't go to the movies anymore so I just try to remember the names of movies I want to see when they get to TV. Nothing stands out to me, either way.
