When I went to the Saturday Matinee as a kid you could always tell the good guys from the bad guys. Good guys wore white hats and bad Black.

As you entered our Woolworths the first thing you noticed was the sweet smell of cashews, or maybe that was what I wanted to smell. My 1/8 lb. was handed to me in a tiny white bag, and I ate them slowly, one at a time. On Saturdays, flush with newspaper route money, I would splurge on a 25¢ hot fudge sundae and a 15¢ Classics comic book. Sometimes I would go to the music department and put a record on the turntable, and listen to the music as it was piped over the store's speakers (Mr. Sandman, Sh-Boom, etc.).

The thing I remember the most.. Being at the lunch counter... the plates were china - glass was a glass - metal utensils to eat with.. only paper was the napkins in the metal container along with the salt & pepper in the glass / metal lid container.. and the host.. said Good morning / afternoon / may I help you.. and not chewing gum or clacking the metal stud in the tongue against her teeth.. and people having conversations and not talking on their dang cell phones..

i remember when every medicine cabinet had a little slot for the used razor blades.

a friend was remodeling an old house and was puzzled by the big pile of rusty razor blades he found between the walls. that's how they got there.

I remember roving street photographers that took a quick snapshot of you walking down the street. He would give you a slip of paper telling how to get your picture and you could order prints.

Just imagine the paranoia if someone was wandering around today taking random pictures of pedestrians as they walked down the street.

Turning off the tv and a white dot appeared and then faded away. As a toddler I kissed the dot until it was gone. I remember!
