The old Charleston SC Cooper River Bridge. I think it has been replaced now.

The old bridge that crossed the Mississippi River at Vicksburg. The one that had rub rails for semis to use when two trucks met.

I've crossed the Mackinac Bridge thousands of times and I have only seen the 25MPH sign on a handful of times. Most times it is 45 or 50MPH, not due to the wind, but to the lane width. I have seen it closed a couple of times due to high wind, but that is relatively rare.

There are a lot of people that will not drive across it because the center two lanes are metal grate and you can look out your window right down to the water surface 200 feet below. My wife is one of them . To put the size into perspective, the Mackinac Bridge is 5 miles long and the total suspended portion is 8614 feet (the Golden Gate has a suspended portion that is 6450 feet total length). The "biggest" town it connects to is St. Ignace, MI with a population around 2600.

I have driven over the Old Cooper River Bridge in Charlestown and white knuckled it all the way and I dont think I could breathe.....but the new bridge is beautiful.

The worst and most scary bridge I have ever crossed is the old Jamestown Bridge in South County RI. It was a short bridge...but narrow, two undivided lanes, with those scarey open metal meshed beds......in the winter it would scare me to death. It gets windy out there.

I just read that it has been demolished.

Way back when I use to deliver home heating oil there was one place that had a bridge in the driveway. It was only about 10 feet long. The problem was it was 4 inches narrower than the fuel truck. I always had to bring a spotter along to guide me accross.

I don't cross bridges anymore. I've burned all of them behind me.

Being on a bridge doesn't bother me, but I've always felt wierd going under a bridge when a cargo train is passing overhead.

100s of 1000s of pounds over my head.

Ive been on that bridge, and its a long haul in a semi (if thats the same bridge youre talking about). Nothing but swampland under us, it was crazy. Definately not a bridge you would want to try to bungee jump from...if your bungee fails you, the gators below wont.
