A neighbor moved in recently and I'm wondering why he removed his mailbox. Anyone know why?
He speaks well, has an expensive vehicle, refined mannerisms BUT I've never seen someone remove their mailbox. He also parks his car in the back of his house and won't enter his home through the front door. My Fiancee is suspicious of him and thinks we need to be apprehensive at this point. Any ideas about this? New one to me.

I rarely enter my house through the front b/c of where the garage is. Why is that suspicious for this guy? He should walk around front if he has a back or side entrance closer to where he parks?

Well I have known people that just used a PO Box and not a street address.
This cuts down somewhat on junk mail, and definitely on people snooping through your mail.

Otherwise our garage is behind our home and I bet I have not entered through the front door a dozen times in 10 years.

Talk about nosey neighbors.

It is perogrative to enter his home by any entrance.

It is right to have a mailbox or not unless this is a fetish of yours.

Do something productive like read a book instead of worrying what your neighbor is doing when they are just living.

By you watching what way they are going into their home or if there mailboxes heck I would be skiddish of you being my neighbor.

He doesn't have a garage and parks his car right in the back of his yard on top of his grass. And he then walks around to the front and enters through his front door. It's almost as though he is hiding his car. Hey, I'm not one to judge but he just seems SUPER private...but like I said, my Fiancee thinks he has something to hide. Good point, though, about not wanting others snooping in his mail.

And to Sunny Kayak, I get what you are saying but my other neighbors are much more concerned about it than I am and my Fiancee is an Attorney.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that he's not on City Data!

LOL, next there will be a thread from a guy who thinks all his neighbors are watching him and wonder why he parks in the back of his house!

LOL! Yes I know; wouldn't be surprised.

Sounds like I'm a nosy neighbor but generally I don't pay attention to stuff like that. My Fiancee, on the other hand, is suspicious of almost everything because she is a trail Attorney and notices EVERYTHING!

The other neighbors, though, see this new neighbor as impersonal and strange, mostly because he won't park his car in his own driveway. Instead, he drives around to the back (in the grass) and parks it in back (on top of the grass- no driveway back there.

Now that's peculiar to me but the fact that he walked out there where our mailboxes sit together in a grouping and removed his box is even more peculiar.

Perhaps he's avoiding bill collectors and the repo man?

Actually, that sounds very likely to me, Hoagie!

I would suspect he doesnt want to have his name attached to a physical address so someone cannot locate him easily.

If you are really really really curious as to how far he has taken this "identity" thing . . . go check the county records and see if his home was purchased under a corporation's name. I have friends in Blowing Rock who sold property to celebrities who used a corporation and a front man instead of revealing their own identity and having it listed on tax records.

There really are people out there who are in federal witness relocation programs, too. You just never know. We all think - oh wow - that is nutty to think . . .but SOMEONE is in those programs . . .

And he could just be in trouble w/ the repo man and have judgments against him - or he could be behind on child support and/or alimony - and be hiding out. Who knows?????

Is he renting the house? Does he keep regular work hours (or is he possibly self-employed?) Often, people who are hiding out are self employed and doing cash business so that no one can access his location via SS# thru/ an employer. A good skip tracer can locate people to garnish wages just by tracking down use of SS#. Of course, he could be using a fake SS# or have created himself a new identity . . .

The possibilities are endless. I could write a short story just thinking about it.
