Good morning everyone
Happy Thursday
It is going to be another rainy day here in NE FL I just looked at the radar and there are some "interesting" orange & green colors headed our way.
When I was researching the stuff for "today in history" I was reminded of something that has been on my "to do list" for while
Get my eyes examined !!
which made me realize that I may be providing a "public service reminder" with

Todays Question:

When was the last time you had your eyes checked ?

Extra credit question:

Do you wear glasses or contacts ?

Bonus question ?

Anyone else notice that when you hit "40" your "arms got shorter" ?

Quintuple bonus points :

If todays ? reminded you how long it has been and you call and make an appointment
(the public service portion of todays ?)

Today in history:
August 14,1873 - The first issue of Field and Stream magazine was published.
August 14, 1820 1st U.S. eye hospital, the New York Eye Infirmary, opens in New York City
August 14, 1965 Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe" hits #1
August 14, 1966 1st U.S. lunar orbiter begins orbiting Moon

Word of the day
:
lackadaisical \lack-uh-DAY-zih-kuhl\, adjective:
Lacking spirit or liveliness; showing lack of interest; languid; listless.

Today is:
National Creamsicle Day
it is also
National Senior Citizens Day
and
National Wiffle Ball Day
Lets not forget
Driving License Test's Birthday (1893)

I'm feeling a bit lackadaisical myself this morning. For some reason, I ache all over like I did a bunch of work or something. Believe me, that's not the case!

Anyway...

I used to wear coke bottle bottom glasses, then got conctacts (the prettiest green you'd ever seen!), then my astigmatism got so bad I couldn't wear them at all. About 8 years ago, DH convinced me to go to Montreal and get the Lasik surgery done ($1000 total back then, which was "cheap"!). I would recommend it to anybody. I do, however, still have to use reading glasses, but it's a whole lot better than what I could and couldn't see before.

Yep, at 40, the arms definitely got shorter. I think I'm due for my exam in about 9 months. I go every 2 years now.

Had them checked a few years ago, I do wear glasses from time to time, my arms are getting shorter by the minute. I do need to get an appointment, they say I have macular degeneration but I think it was from a blow to the head, I'm supose to go get the pictures taken agian to see if it's gotten worst.

My last eye test was probably 15 years ago. I am supposed to wear glasses, but I prefer to squint. I'm not 40 yet, bet I have noticed my arms are becoming much more t-rex like. I guess I better get back to the eye doctor, hugh?

Forgive me Karla with a K; it's been at least 7 years since my last eye exam. Though I do wear glasses I haven't thought to much about an eye exam, shame on me.

Will get an appointment in 09.

OMG!!!!!! Have my arms gotten shorter? I know I have. When I visited family in MA in 06 I was 4' 11 1/2 " When daughter saw me this June the second statement out of her mouth was "You've gotten shorter". Needless to say, had my dad measure my height. Lost that 1/2 inch somewhere. Now if that half inch had left my waist or thighs I'd of jumped up and down for joy.

Hope everyone has a Beautiful day.

We both had our's checked a month ago. I've been wearing glasses since I was in kindergarten. I tried contacts and hated them.
I have them checked every 2 years as directed. As the big 4-0 will be in April, I'll be looking into bi-focals at my next visit. The dr showed me what things would look like with them. If I were smart, I would have done it now. I've been told for the last 5 years that I will need them. Yippee! It runs in the family though..

Had them checked and got new glasses in 05. I promptly lost them - as I tend to lose every pair of glasses I have ever owned. I can get by with over the counter reading glasses when I need to read something - and they are a whole lot cheaper than prescription glasses.

When was the last time you had your eyes checked ?

I'm a volunteer at a research facility. Some of the studies involve my seeing and reacting to various stimuli. Before each study, my visual acuity is checked so that if my vision was not at least 20-30, they would apply corrective lenses so that vision was not a factor in the study. My eyesight at these exams have been 20-15.

Do you wear glasses or contacts ?

No.

Ugh I have to go every six months for various exams and tests as I am pre-glaucoma. That was a shock!

I have reading glasses and everything's a blur w/o them. The joys of aging.

Easy question for me. My retina was detached and repaired itself, but just a little tad off, so I have a macular pucker. Doctor keeps me coming every six months because I now have a cyst on that eye. I make the next appointment before I leave his office. So far, so good, but he will operate if and when the need arises. This doctor is one of the top retina specialist in the country so I am covered. I wear glasses with progressive lens and they turn to sunglasses when I go outside. Now would you like to know what my checkups cost? Luckily it is covered by medical.
