If you called a lawyer and asked them a question that could have something to do with one of their clients, are they obligated to tell their client that you were asking?

I agree about them not talking to you, unless you are somehow related. If you are another lawyer, court rep. or something like that.
There's such a thing as attorney-client privilege so I don't think you would get very far (unless you're a "special" person).
I worked for lawyers for quite a few years, this would be conflict of interest - they can't talk to you about their client.
I agree and thought of that but obviously there's a lot more to the story. I didn't want to get into the details. Since you worked for lawyers, I hope you don't mind but I will pm you more details and maybe you can shed some light? Thank you.
