I'm sure everyone has had a situation of something that was so crazy (as in STUPID) that you just had to laugh about it. DW came home from work the other day with this story.
She is in her last week at work. The company she has worked for the last 23 years merged with another company (they called it a merger, but they kept the other companies name and all their employees). About half of the employees of her company were retained, some let go immediately when the merger took effect, and a few like her were kept temporarily during the transition. So she has been working her tail off, working overtime since the first of January due to the reduction in the number of people in her office. The office is closing next week, so apparently the "transition" is nearly complete and her employment is about to end. The other day, one of the top guys from the company stopped in (the first time he has been in since before the merger took place). He asked DW and one of the other workers there if they wanted to stay on part-time, temporarily, through the summer to cover whenever someone from one of the other offices in the county went on vacation.
I told her it sounded like a great opportunity to get her foot in the door, so to speak, with the new owners,
ROFL
. I really don't think that was where she had in mind to place her foot though.
