I feel compelled to explain why I visit this forum.

I recently took my mother back to our families original starting point, Somerset Kentucky, because her sister passed away. We attended the funeral, saw many relatives I hadn't seen in years, and when I returned home, Lima Ohio, I got on-line to find out if there were any forums like this one for that area. I wanted to go there hopefully to find out more about the area and just socialize with the people there. Well, I found one and it was not at all like I had expected. The southern hospitality is wonderful when you visit your relatives and such, but man what a mess that forum was. Rude, gossiping about the locals, and just a lot of nastiness. I opened a thread there titled, 'Newbie from another state', and somewhat introduced myself there and was totally iced. I think if you go to that thread you can still hear crickets chirping. I found this site and looked at the Kentucky forum and it was 100% better. Then I saw, 'General Forum', and peeked in here, read a few threads and really enjoyed what I saw. You all are a wonderful blend of people from all walks of life, from all area's of the USA, humorous, intelligent and I am hooked.

I have read in some posts in here and gathered that you must have had problems with trolls, but from what I see the Mods must have handled that disease quite effectively. I assure you all, I am not a troll, however I HAVE used that technique while bass fishing a time or 2. I assure you all that the Mods can check my ISP and verify that I am new here and I would never be intentionally mean or vile to anyone. I wish I could pinky swear with you all on that

I am male, 51, divorced, have a daughter 25 who made me a grandaddy, ('PappyDad' my grandson calls me, who lives with me. I have a set of twins, boy-girl who will be 22 on May 2 that are both attending different colleges, (if you hear a slurping noise, that is the money going through the funnel), and over-all I am just a happy man who loves life and loves humor. I work for a Chemical Plant and have been there for 32 years. It's been a good job and after all these years I still like going to work. My roles have changed a lot since I started there, but it's been a good ride.

Sorry to post a thread, 'all about me', but I wanted to kind of introduce myself and compliment you all on a great forum.

Be well, and be the reason for a smile today,
Larry

Welcome, dukester2. It's a great forum in spite of a few semi-hostile people. Beware though, it's quite addicting.

Welcome and thanks for posting a good intro. I tried to keep my profile anonymous, but after a while you sort of get drawn into cyber friendships here.
Most folks tend to migrate to the area of their liking Personally, I am not attracted to the hater discussions. I like to laugh and get a kick out of the different personalities here. I think by developing this cyber community, we allow ourselves to see how much we have in common instead of what separates us.

Double ditto here. I enjoyed reading yuor post. You provided a fair amount of info about yourself which is welcoming, but do be cautious about providing too much. As others have said, we are a strange bunch here and there are a few who are ummm....well - we just love having you on board.

It's a great place to learn, exchange information, and that runs a pretty wide gamit.

Happy bunny weekend.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome and advice on being cautious. I am aware that there are some bozo's on EVERY bus and generally have a pretty good read on people. I am by no stretch introverted, as you may have already found out, and have somewhere between a dry and warped sense of humor, so take what I say in the way it's meant to be and please never feel offended. I know that a lot of pessimists view the cup as half empty and optimists see it as half full...I guess I have always thought that if you can't get a bra that fits why even bother wearing one?

Pixie Dust, yes we are best friends on my favorite list, and after I wrote that I was afraid that you may have taken it wrong and thought, "Sheesh, what a wacko, he doesn't even know me", and became confused and then relocated or something. I hope you didn't take it wrong.

Well, being the party animal that I am, there's carpet in them thar rooms that need vacuumed. That sucks, (get it, vacuum..sucks? never mind), but I am on an agenda today and that's next on the list. After that, a trip to the grocery, mayhap an afternoon siesta and then to a Comedy Club tonight.

Have a Good Saturday, because that generally follows Good Fridays,

Duke, (<----being cautious and not signing off as Larry)
