They look so similar. The Julleuchter (YuleLantern) sees use throughout the year. The Jack o'lantern is necessarily limited to autumn. I see a symbolic face in both. The Julleuchter has remaind a sacred object, but the Jack o' lanrn seems to have been commercialized. What say you about these two?

The Jack o' lantern is only popular because of the commercializing of Halloween. Halloween has become so incredibly popular because of human nature to have some sort of 'check system' for things that scare us. We gotta stay on our toes. In this modern world we do not have much anymore that is spooky and unknown and I think on a cellular level, we have a hole to fill and the fun and merging with spooky fills that hole.
Carving pumpkins is great fun. Roasting the seeds is an easy yummy snack. But I'd rather cook the pumpkin to make pie.

I'm not seeing anything representational of a face in the Yule lantern.
