I am talking about those moms who have their shirts cut off or pulled up to show off their midriff's and have their cleavage hanging out, and wearing low rise pants/shorts/mini skirts with their thongs sticking out. Have you seen them? The ones who dress sexy around their children. I think these kids are embarrassed with the way their mom dresses? I know I would be!

I personally think it's inappropriate for a mom to walk around like that. A woman can be sexy in so many ways. But as a mom, don't you think they need to cover up. I don't mean like a nun. But dress appropriately. In fact, my kids are the first to tell me that I have too much makeup on (when I think I don't). But out of respect for my kids, I tone it down.

What are your thoughts?

What you describe, I don't think is 'sexy'. But there is a time/place for everything. No, I wouldn't wear short shorts and a spaghetti strap to to a PTA meeting, but I would wear it to a pool party or cook-out.

What you describe is not about sexy or not. It is about classy. A woman can be sexy in a long dress.

I certainly never showed my belly or thong but it will be a cold day in heck before I dressed matronly. I haven't worn Mom jeans since 1987 and would never be considered practical or conservative with how I dress.

On the flip side, my Mother didn't have an ounce of fashion sense and that always embarassed me growing up.

There are a lot of interpretations of the word 'sexy' but I don't consider that kind of dressing to be sexy in any way, it's just trashy. Which is how I would describe a mom who dresses that way around her kids, or actually in general. As well as insecure and desperate. It's fine to wear clothes that fit you and are appropriate, it's when you are letting it all hang out to make yourself look easy that it's a problem.

I recently saw a perfect example of that at the high school. The daughter was sloppily dressed and quite overweight while the mom strutted her stuff in a tiny micro skirt, spike heels, and cleavage hanging out everywhere but the mom had a decent figure and she knew it. It was as though she came to seduce the high school boys in front of her sad looking daughter with her streetwalker sex appeal.

Or maybe the mother was so disgusting to her daughter that the daughter was going the opposite - baggy clothes and dumpy figure.

I wasn't saying anything about having to dress matronly. But I personally don't get why some moms feel the need to let it all hang out. My mom always dressed classy and fashionable. Maybe these women are just trashy looking to me. All I know is if I wear a shirt with a hint of cleavage, my 12 year old son asks me to cover it up. lol

That's not sexy, it's slutty. You can be sexy in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, being sexy doesn't mean how you dress, it's how you present yourself, how you feel about yourself, etc, and it all comes together.

Why should a woman have to dress less sexy to placate the prudes?
