So im on my phone, so if someone else can find and post the link for me....
A bunch of parents in a brooklyn neighborhood want to ban the ice cream trucks because they have to "fight" their kids over getting a treat.

What the hell is with everyone trying to ban everything????
If you don't like something don't do it, dont buy it, eat it, consume it, read it, look at it, whatever.

Soon enough were going to ban anything and everything slightly controversial and unhealthy...

Im sick of our country turning into a ban happy country.

You can find the story on yahoo.

Just say NO.

I used to tell my kids that the Ice Cream Man was a police officer who drove around looking for kids to arrest who ran out into the street. Worked for a couple years until Mrs. NBP's cousin came to visit with her kids and they, being a bit older, decided to tell my kids their version.

At first I told the kids it was the "music truck" that goes around playing music for everyone. I pretty quickly let them off the hook, though, and went ahead and sprung for the $2 treat.

I know just tell your kid no.
Just because their kids obviously dont get what the word no means doesnt mean everyone else has to suffer.

Amen, Txtqueen! I to am tired of people trying to ban things just because they don't think it's right. If you don't want your kid to have it, don't buy it, but why ruin it for the kids that can have it.

Honestly, fighting with your kid over an ice cream? What ever happened to you being the parent? Just tell them no, and if the little brats throw a fit, put them in their room and tell them to be quite.

Watching one ban after another makes me want to rapidly bash my forehead into my desk at work right now.

There's someone trying to ban birth control, trying to ban cosmo at check out counters, theres a ban on nearly everything.

Soon enough well all be wearing the same grey jumpsuits, our names will be numbers and everything wikl be tightly controlled by some loon.

Well they want to ban it in a park, but they won't be able to do it anyway because it has to be a statewide ban.

You can't imagine what Park Slope has become. This isn't surprising behavior for the jerks that have invaded that neighborhood.

I think it is ridiculous to ban something because you can't say no to your child. You don't have to give in to tantrums. The more you ignore them, the sooner the child learns that s/he cannot have everything all the time. I think you should say yes often, but when you say no, mean it.
