Do your daughters read this magazine? One 14 year old girl started a petition to get Seventeen magazine to feature at least one un photoshopped photo an issue and she got so much more. A real vicotory for our daughters and their friends.

having trouble with the link right now. maybe it will be better or available soon.

I'm just waiting for the naysayers to hit this thread bemoaning young women who don't have 'thick enough skin'. Because we all know it's only a matter of time :-X. And i agree it's a great idea though how long it will continue is up for debate.

haha, there was some irony in the ads I had to see when I pulled up the article!

I'm supportive but not too impressed. I don't have much interest in magazines but if my girls were going to read one it would have to be based on realistic pics. and realistic content.

Sounds good on paper, but I'm definitely in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp. Now if they would pledge to only use ads that were not photoshopped - though they'd probably go out of business that way.

I don't believe there will really be a moratorium on the use of Photoshop in the publishing/advertising business. As a matter of fact, I know it won't happen. Airbrushing will still happen and I don't see anything wrong with it. Even having your portrait taken includes some photo editing. IMO, it's silly to believe a make up company is going to advertise a cover-up and use a model with zits visible.

I think a better approach is to teach our children to be smart consumers. If that means "developing a thicker skin" to some participants on this forum, so be it.
