Everyone in the family wants a trampoline but me. My reasons, in priority order, are:

1) A lot of injuries occur.
2) Related to number 1, it will probably be excluded from the liability portion of our homeowners insurance
3) It will take up a large part of our smallish yard.
4) It will be a pain to maintain, mow under etc.
5) They, the cheap ones anyway, tend to get junky after a short while.

God no. I never saw the point and the only time I've ever seen them is when they have been abandoned in a corner of a yard. Why go to all that trouble and expense just to JUMP for a couple minutes? Go to a bouncy house if the urge strikes. Haha.

This is tough....trampolines are fun. So...yes....but.....you need to supervise the play. And we had our share of broken arms and dislocated shoulders to deal with...three boys. They loved it. Just telling you. Like it is....

We have had ours for 5 years, it's one of the better, more sturdy ones with the spring cover and safety net. We have had no injuries as of yet (touch wood), but any reckless shenanigans, and they are off. I do know of kids who have hurt wrists and shoulders though, that is the reality.

Having a trampoline has been a lifesaver for my son during the 7 to 10 year-old "too much energy" stage. My kids absolutely love it.

Nay, big time. When our boys begged for one in NJ, my husband asked me to call the insurance company and inquire about any additional insurance we might need to carry. Not only would they not write coverage for it, they told me they would cancel us outright if we got one. I think we were covered by State Farm at the time.

My youngest hit his neck on the edge of a friend's trampoline (and it had one of those safety nets surrounding it) , and needed x-rays, an MRI and physical therapy afterwards. I wouldn't want any parent coming after me for those expenses.

Ceece is right too. I never see anybody using the ones dotting yards around here.

What a sad world we live in. We have to worry about liablity insurance and getting sued for having a trampoline. I remember the days that if we were at a friends house and got hurt, the last thing a parent said was, can we sue? Kids will be kids and they will get hurt no matter what you have or don't have.

Getting a good net significantly cuts down on injuries, and it is a fun thing to have and good for fitness and agility.
I would say a qualified yes, depending on age of kids (not if they are younger than7 or so), and how big of a % of your yard it takes up (not if it's taking up 1/4 of the yard or more).

But it would be foolish to go ahead without being aware of all the ramifications. Trampolines, along with pools, are considered "attractive nuisances" by insurance companies. Even if the homeowner doesn't give permission for another child to use them, he can still be held liable for injuries.
