Would you object to your daughter wanting to play on the boys football team or your son playing on the girls soccer team? I don't have a problem with either one except the chance for serious injury in any football game concerns me.
USA had a young lady win a Gold Medal in Boxing and a competitor in Judo.

I wouldn't allow either, for reasons explained in another thread. Boys need to be taught chivalry and respect for women. Tackling a girl on a football field doesn't accomplish this. Kicking a soccer ball into her groin doesn't accomplish this either. Although some forms of light competition are fine, the sexes were made for cooperation, not competition.
"The school’s statement read, 'Our school aims to instill in our boys a profound respect for women and girls. Teaching our boys to treat ladies with deference, we choose not to place them in an athletic competition where proper boundaries can only be respected with difficulty.'"
When I was in high school, there was a girl who wanted to play football. Her parents threatened to sue the school if she wasn't allowed, so they let her. The coach told the guys to tackle her as hard as they could, gang up on her, that kind of thing, to discourage her from playing. She gave up on playing football after a week or two. I thought she got a raw deal...I wouldn't let my girls play football though. I don't know about soccer, I've never watched a real soccer game, just what we did in PE, so I have no idea how it really works as a sport.

The coach should have done just the opposite: demanded that all players treat her like a lady. She would have got the same message but without turning the boys into savages.
Soccer is not as rough. One of my daughters participates in an all-girls soccer league. But the boys play much more aggressively and players do get hurt, so I'm not personally in favor of co-ed soccer.
Western Pilgrim- did you watch any of the Olympics at all? Did you see the Beach Volley Ball, Water Polo or Soccer games? Those girls are extremely competitive, in excellent shape and did our country proud. I was busting my buttons.

No, I didn't, but I can use my imagination. Same-sex competition is less of a problem for girls than inter-sex competition, in my view.

So it's all about the boys and how this situation affects them?
Interesting that's your focus. And telling. Not in the least bit surprising.
To No Kudzu: You and I both know what that is really all about. This young lady is breaking barriers. And where does that lead us? Next thing she'll be wanting is to study astrophysics. Then she'll work to become an astronaut. Before you know it she's pushing the atmospheric ceiling and becoming the first person to set foot on Mars.
And we all know a woman's place in is the kitchen. Not on other planets.

Then your league is at fault. FIFA is the soccer governing body globally, and youth soccer leagues use their rules with some regional modification, but the rules are the same for boys and girls, men and women.
