In my neighborhood we make fun of the Russians because we see them wheeling the baby carriages around and we are freezing. But when you think of it, and after reading this article, that is what they are used to, and it does make sense. The colder climate countries, this is what the people are used to.
No one ever died from fresh air. Cold air would be good to clear the babies lungs out.
I have vague memories of my younger siblings sleeping in a carriage like that, outside in the NJ winter. Granted, it most likely was not as cold as this article references. My mother may have done it just because it was quiet outside, and nowhere else given that there were 7 of us kids. As long as the babies are appropriately bundled up, I see no harm.
My Mom did.the same thing with us. We also lived in NJ. The cold kills the germs, and fresh air is good.
