The picture cracked me up! Seriously OP, you're complaining about a father who is involved in his daughter's life? Has nothing to do with women needing a man to save them... It is a father who loves his child and will protect her at all costs; every child should be so lucky.

I'm pretty sure the whole thing was a joke. That's the way I took it.

With that said, I was a teenage boy once. Based on my experiences fathers need to look more at their daughters. Girls are often the aggressors sexually. I know that doesn't match the stereotype. But my three brothers and I could tell some stories. And we were all just regular high school kids. Also, I would advise any father to pay attention to his daughter's female friends. A lot of times girls are pressured into having sex by other girls as a way of keeping up.

Sometimes I think men give teenage boys far too much credit (while giving the girls none at all). The vast majority of 16 year old boys are not charming the pants off high school girls. Most of them wouldn't even know where to start. The reality is teenage girls have sex because they want to. Daddy is only scaring off the guys he's actually getting a chance to meet.

Given that a man's being sent to prison is one of the very worst things he could do for his daughter, all the huffing and puffing about "protecting" her is just silly bravado. Raise her right and she won't need Daddy following her around. A quick look at where teen pregnancies are the highest indicates just how effective the threat of Daddy's shotgun wrath is.

Meh, I thought it was humorous. Obviously the boyfriend posed with the dad for the photo, so it was clearly done with humor, not something to read so much in to...it's just for fun.

Teen pregnancy rates are highest in single-parent households. So I'll argue that having an involved father in a child's life lowers the risk of teen pregnancy. Just saying...

Ick, ick, ick.

Every time I read or hear "Daddy's polishing his shotgun to protect his little girl" it makes me cringe. Newsflash, girls and women don't belong to anyone but themselves.
I agree. What sort of dolts find this funny?
