As you get older(late 20's-30's-40's etc)do you feel embarrassed about how you behaved in your teen and preteen years? Looking back I feel this way now as a 30-something. I can't believe how rude, silly and goofy I behaved in school and towards people at various times. I think this may be related to me just getting older and looking back at my behaviors from a more mature prespective as an adult I guess. Now I wasn't a bad kid but I did sometimes act in ways as a teen and younger kid that looks bad to me now. Do any of you feel embarrassed about some of your past behaviors as you get older? Do you ever wish you could go back in time and do something different with your younger behavior?
I would bet most of us do. It's called growing up and maturity. Still all that rudeness, ignorance and indiffernce usually leads to some sort of change and improvement with the years. At least I would hope so. But go to your 30th high school reunion and you can still see some same behaviors and actions which remind you of that person when in high school.
I was lucky enough to have a momma who accepted my childish behavior as just that.... childish. I have since apologized for many of my behaviors. She said to me, "no need to apologize. You were a child and you acted like a child, you are now an adult and if you still acted like a child, then I'd have a problem."
I'm 53, I don't remember how I acted as a teenager! I am, however, embarrassed by my behavior in my late 20's.
