Mine, usually around 8:30-9:00 P.M. Never had an exact schedule. I know parents who put their kids down at 7 PM, I can't imagine that.
Since my 1 kid stopped taking naps we made the bedtime earlier. We start at 7p and in bed at 7:30p asleep around 8-8:30p she is up around 6:30-7a which is fine. She no longer gets that hour at naptime but she still need at least 11 hours sleep a they recommend. We found if we wait til 8p to start bedtime stuff she fights us much harder.
When my son was a toddler, I put him to bed at around 9. If not he would be awake bright and early and since I am not a morning person and I am a stay at home mom, sleeping until 7-7:30 was a godsend. He always took good naps but I could never get him to sleep later.
Once he started school he is in bed by 7:30-8 every school night.
I have never had problems getting him to bed. As a matter of fact, my whole family was absolutely astonished when one night when we were all at the beach my three year old announced he was going to bed! Granted it was a little past his bedtime but I've never heard of another child doing that. Most kids are not especially willing to go to bed particularly when stuff is going on, like a family vacation! That is still not unusual for him at six either!

My 3yr old son has told us a few time that he would like to go to bed or that it is time to go to bed. I've seen him a few times putting his toys away and ask why. He says b/c it's time for bath & bed Mind you, he is usually this way b/c my dh & him have some sort of plans for the next morning & he wants to go to sleep so he can wake up & have fun time with daddy. He does the same thing about naps. After lunch, he goes to the bathroom, goes potty washes, washes his hands, and tells ME that it's time for nap.
It's not this way 100% of the time nor does he necessarily go to sleep without a few visits, but it's so his personality. Cracks me up.
Having children who go to bed at 9PM leaves little time with the spouse. Seems like we never talk anymore. Any similiar situations out there? Do you think its possible to reverse bed time and eventually get them down 1.5-2hrs. earlier?
LOL! It feels that way! I've had 4 kids in 8.5 years, and been nursing non-stop for the last 4! There are 2.5 years between my daughters, 3.5 years between my youngest daughter and oldest son, and 2.5 years between my 2 boys. Following that schedule, I am due to get pregnant again some time soon!
My two year old is in bed at 7:30 (he goes to sleep within 15-20 minutes) and my four year old goes to bed by 8:00p.m. She goes to sleep within 15-20 minutes also. They both get up between 7-7:30 a.m. which works for me!
FWIW, if they started displaying things such as not going to sleep for a long time when they go to bed or getting up REALLY early, I would most certainly adjust their bed times.
I have a 19 mo old, a 3 and a 4 year old. We start getting their teeth brushed, bath, hair brushed and dried, and book time around 7:00 and are usually done by 7:45. After we get the girls in their room, and Bubba in his, settled down and relaxing (without chatter), it's after 8:00 pm. It's not really strict, it goes with the flow of their attitudes and if we have extra things to do that evening. I hate it when parents rush their kids off to bed. They are only this age once ya know, it'll never happen again.
