I know that this might sound odd - but I need some help from the savvy moms out here:

I was eating blackberries at my desk and just now dropped one, which bounced down my shirt and onto my pants. I'm wearing jeans and a cotton polo shirt.

Any ideas for what I can do (while @ work) to make sure that this doesn't become a permanent stain?

Can you go out to get some Shout Wipes? Maybe try to get some off with water ASAP.

Water and soap and rub it together like theres no tomorrow. Shoot, I was eating with my daughter yesterday and I was wearing white shorts, and I spilled a couple drops of soy sauce on my shorts, D'oh! I hope it comes out.

One thing to try is, Place the stained portion of the garment, if possible, over a bowl, or a sink or a cup that can withstand heat and pour boiling hot water or as hot of water as you can over the stain and it should wash out the berry stain. This is supposed to work on most all other berry stains as well.

As long as the garment has not been washed and dried trying to remove the stain and thereby allowing the stain to set the hot water trick should still work. So if you have not already found a way to remove the stain prior to washing, try the hot water trick first.

Cold water, Dawn dish detergent or hand soap, and scrubbing.

Hey just wanted to say thanks for the responses! There weren't any shout wipes around, so I went with the hot water idea from <wyoquilter>. Last night, I washed it and we're in the clear. Looks like those blackberries never jumped on there!

It also gave me the idea that maybe I should keep a spare clean shirt at work just in case...

Glad to hear that you were able to get the stain out.

A spare shirt at work, might be a good idea just in case you have another spill. My grandmother needs to start doing that when she goes any place, she always seems to manage to drop food on her shirt any time she eats.

Here is another stain remover tip I learned for those who work with ink pens in their pockets. If you get ink on your clothes from a ballpoint pen, spray it with hair spray. The aresol can seems to work better than the pump bottles. I've had really good luck getting ink stains out that way. You can do it while still wearing the garment.

For permanet markers, try using rubbing alcohol. Just pour the alcohol over the mark or dab it good with a soaked cotton ball. Rubbing alcohol also helps remove permanet marker from surfaces like tables, counters and walls.
