A friend of mine was mentioning how every few years he has to hire a law firm to appeal his taxes (this is in Texas) and the law firm wins, and he pays them 20% of the savings as a fee.

That made remember a letter I received from a Philly Law firm (cannot remember the name or find the letter) a few months back saying they would essentially do the same for me (would appeal my property taxes on a contingency fee).

Has anybody tried this out? Did it work? My property taxes generally seem in-line with the taxes my neighbors pay, but perhaps we are all overpaying or the law firm can win an appeal?

You don't need a law firm.

You need a professional appraisal.

If the appraisal supports a lower tax, the paperwork -- submitted to the county -- is not all that complicated. We're in Chester County. My husband did it a few years ago and saved us $1,000 or so on our annual tax bill, which is around $8,000.

I'm TOTALLY agree with this !
No need for a law firm or lawyer to do such thing
