I imagine there is some truth to it. In order to get a job working for the PA Turnpike, you've got to know someone to get in.

Anyone know anything about this? Can you provide details or tell me an example, with names changed to protect the innocent?

I must obfuscate some details, but I know someone who knows someone who may be elected as a state representative soon.

I have a 22 year old nephew who is a good worker, but has no education beyond high school, or much motivation.

If this person does win their election, I would offer them a cash bribe to get my nephew hired, if in fact they would then have the influence to make it happen.

Anyone? Can this work?

Ah, yes, let's just perpetuate that reputation of state government corruption, favortism and nepotism.

Pretty sad when things get to such a state that folks actually think that bribery is an acceptable behavior. Hey, try it out and let us know how you like your three hots and a cot

Do you have evidence to the contrary?

Welp, suggest you tell your kin to tell his/her son to move out/find a job by such and such a date. Yes, that job might be at a grocery or MacDonald's. How do you know if the kid is a good worker if he can't get motivated? If mom/dad is paying his way for food, lodging etc he won't get motivated. I worked a grocery for a number of years, learned a lot. It also paid part of health insurance which was good.

Even if he were to get a job with the Turnpike, it doesn't sound like he has the life skills to make it work...

Suggesting an illegal way of getting of high paying job will not help him...or you for that matter.

Gerania noted the law and repercussions for your edification, in case you didn't know it was illegal.

Actually, I know people at the Turnpike Commission. How much did you have in mind?

While the state could use the money if they are caught. If they are imprisoned, we have to pay for the expenses with our taxes. Please don't encourage em. Some folks will take you literally.

Buy the 22 y/o a ticket to Florida, Arizona, Texas, Utah, or Colorado. Also give him 3k. That should be enough.
