We plan to drive from CT to Saylorsburg and I am checking the map for the best route. Taking 84 all the way and then RT 209 down to Saylorsburg seems an easier drive than switching to different expressways in order to connect to I 80 and come that way.

This route does take us though the Poconos and looks like a beautiful drive. I am slightly worried if it may be too isolated. I would greatly appreciate any kind of insight and your experience driving this route.

Thank you.

209 is a pretty major road. Not sure what would qualify as too isolated but I don't think 209 would be. Plus it's only about 30 miles between interstates.

rt 209 aka the 'ho chi minh' as truckers used to call it, was restricted by enacting horrible tolls (dont know if they still exist) and hyper slow speed limits (dont know if they still stand) and heavy patrols. Last time I went thru there to drill into a wedding recep, it was 35mph the whole way and a US park police ranger every 5 miles. A pinch from them is a mandatory appear - no mail-in like with PSP.

So check that out and adjust. Picturesque only goes so far when you gotta grab miles...
