Default Maybe looking to move from MD to PA Questions?

I am looking to move away MD into PA but still work in Maryland. I know the typical relocation places Shrewsberry and Stewardstown etc… will be out of my price range for what I am looking for. I work in Owings Mills, MD and I am looking to live max 60 miles away in PA. I am looking for a modest smaller house 1600sq feet or smaller depending on configuration but the biggest part is I would like to have around 4-8 acres of property. My price range is max $250,000. I also understand that the taxes in PA for property and all the other taxes can add up depend on county and township. With all of this in mind will my move be possible? Is there cheaper locations? I guess I am left with York and Adams Counties because of my commute. Can anyone offer any thoughts?

Thanks,

Glenn

The problem with PA in York/Adams counties are the property taxes (including the school tax). Income tax is less in PA than MD, but the extra property tax makes up for it. Therefore, the only advantage to PA over MD is the lower price of houses.

In your case, with 4-8 acres, property tax is going to be especially high. You might be able to find an old house on that much land within your budget. Search around on realtor . com and the like to see what's out there.
