Lillian Agnes Beattie married W. George Cary.

They had a daughter named Gloria Marie born in 1927 in Brooklyn.

Lillian Beattie is the great grandaughter of Lady Kitty White of Dublin and Colonel Walter Ven de Leur of the British army.

The article also states that W. George Cary is a descenant of Sir Francis Drake, and also a descendant of two veterans of the American Revolution.

Info from The Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper, May 15, 1927.

Other sisters of Joseph W. Beattie were: Eleanor Marie C. Beattie, and Florence V. Beattie.

Hello Geert:
As noted there is a birth year discrepancy for Patricia. 1947 would be age 67 and not age 70. I see 2-3 Patricia A. Binkley age 70 but none show a former married name of Wells. She may have re-married and her last name is no longer Wells or Binkley (Binckley).

You said you had Carl's photo and alot of other details about the soldier.
You are making progress and something will turn up for you soon, I believe.
Hello,

I found out she married Steven E Wells in 1978. Please see the picture. I think it was on Free People Search | Find People for Free | PeopleFinder.com or another website. Unfortunately, I don't have the possibility to pay with my creditcard. I don't have permission.. maybe because I'm not from USA... That'w why I can't search further.
Thank you for everything.
Geert

Default Little poppie

Hello Taxi Guy,

This is my tribute to my soldier US Sgt. Carl W Roberts:

Little poppy,
*
So, here I lie, next to you
In ploughed Flemish soil, us two,
Sown with bombs and corpses.
*
So, here I lie next to you
As you join me at the end of my life. I understand you now.
You bring a red shine to my eyes, and a tear.
*
So, here I lie next to you, my dear poppy.
I extend to you my bloodied hand.
I no longer have pain and I want to embrace you in my arms.
*
So, here I lie next to you
As my body stops another bullet, and another and another.
You are the last thing that I can see, that I realize now.
*
So, here I lie next to you.
My thoughts are wandering further and further
As your petals fall, more and more.
*
Here I lie next to you.
Our end has come together. Mother?
And together we die. Hold my hand,

Little poppy. Where are you now?

Geert De Backer

Poem dedicated to my soldier Sgt. Carl W. Roberts who died November 4th, 1918. Killed in action in Flanders fields.
I describe the last minute of his life in Flanders fields, far away from home...

Hello Geert:
Which is correct, birth year of 1947 or age 70 and what document do you have that she is living?

What document do you have Geert that confirms which is accurate?

The spelling conflicts from two sources.

Geert De Backer,
Thank you so much for the poem and for what you do.
Over 30 years ago I had a conversation with a Dutch tourist here in New York when Ronald Reagan was President. The man was concerned that Reagan would start a war with the USSR that would be fought on European soil like had happened twice in the last century.

I could do little to ease his fears about Reagan's saber rattling as I feared the same thing. What most struck me about him was his gratitude for what he referred to as "the GI's" of WWII. He was grateful for the GI's and I came away with gratitude that people "over there" still remember them.

Thank you for remembering our Doughboys.

Hello,

I received the information from Ms. Donna Work. This is her reply:

Dear Geert,

From my end I discover that Carl W Roberts married Gladys Lynn 12 Sep 1917 in Cuyahoga Co Ohio. Their daughter Mildred Elizabeth Roberts was born on 8 Dec 1918, after her father was killed and maybe even before Gladys knew of his death. Can you even imagine? How sad! It breaks my heart. Mildred would have never known her father.

Mildred marries a man named Albert Walter Binckley on 9 Mar 1940 in Los Angeles County, California and they have 2 daughters born in Los Angeles County:
Carol Elizabeth Binckley is born 20 Dec 1940
Patricia Ann Binckley is born 28 Jan 1947

It appears from the space between those birthdates that Albert was likely in the service in WW2, so one daughter is born before the war and another is born after.
In the 1940 census, Albert and Mildred are living in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, California.

Carol Elizabeth Binckley married Dwayne L TUPPER on 27 Nov 1974 (he was 7 years younger than she was) and they divorced in April 1975. Then she married Anthony L AMORELLI on 18 Dec 1976. Both marriages took place in Los Angeles County. Sadly, she died 20 Jan 1988 in Los Angeles County. On the California Birth Index, I find no children for them.

Patricia A Binkley (notice the spelling is different) married Steven E WELLS on 10 Mar 1973 in Los Angeles County. But she gives her birthdate 1949...so this is very UNCERTAIN. I find no children.

Me: if I should have her address, I can write here and ask if US Sgt. Carl W Roberts was her grandfather. But.. untill now, I didn't find her address. Pity

Thank you.

Geert

Hello,

YES, this could be Patricia A Binkley I search for. This is based on the mail I received of Ms. Donna Work: Dear Geert,

So, if I find her address, I could ask her if US Sgt. Carl W Roberts was her grandfather.

I received also information of Brian Albrecht, reporter of the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

Thanks for sending that. I just talked to an Arline Lipstreuer of Mentor, Ohio. She said Carl Roberts was her stepmother's first husband. Her stepmother's name was Gladys M. Lynn. She said that the daughter Mildred had two daughters but she lost touch with them when they moved to California. Lipstreuer would like your mail address so she could send you a letter. She does not have e-mail. If you could send me your mail address, I'll give it her. Her address is: Arline Lipstreuer, 6139 Tiffin Court, Mentor, Ohio 44060 USA. Thanks,
Brian

>>> Also in this information Ms. Lipstreuer speaks about two daughters...

Thank you.

Geert
