I am searching for my grandmother's friend who may still be living in London, England. They lost touch about 6 years ago when my grandmother moved. Since then, my grandmother has tried calling her friend's number, but there has been no answer. My grandmother is now 86 years old.
My grandmother's father relocated the Goodman family to London from Germany at the beginning of second world war through an underground movement, called the Freemasons, so that they may escape the persecution of the Nazi forces. The grandparents of the Goodman family did not want to leave, and sadly they died in the gas chambers.
If you are related to Agnes Goodman, or you know who she is, please contact me.
SERIOUS CONTACT ONLY PLEASE. THIS IS FOR MY GRANDMOTHER, AN 86 YEAR OLD WOMAN. SHE DESERVES MUCH RESPECT IN HER FINAL YEARS.
Have you tried the local london council - they hold all council tax payers details each year (property tax). You can also search birth and death records but I think you'd need to go to the local registry office in London.
I am living in a different country so going to the local registry office won't be possible. It does sound like I need to find out my grandmother's friend's last mailing address in order to identify the local London council.
I wonder if there is a formal system in place to find people. There must be because so many people have been displaced due to war and many people are interested in their geneological history.
