My father was adopted and we have been looking for his family for 70 years. With the help of DNA and a professional we think we are close. I am somewhat desperate as my sister is in her mid-eighties and her health is not good. I would really like to tell her we have found dad's family. The gentleman we are looking for was born in 1926 so his age is also a factor.


Right now the final piece of the puzzle may rest with a man who lives in Miami. I know his name and age, but all the (limited) ways I have of searching aren't working.


If someone here either knows him or has a phone book for Miami and finds him would DM me I would appreciate any help. I am not going to ask anything of him except to have his DNA tested. I'll pay for it if necessary.

It appears that the person hasn't owned that property since 2009. A company called Unique Living Grove LLC owns it now but they have not paid the real estate taxes on it for 2 years. Actually it looks like a vacant lot right now. Go to https://www.miamidade.gov/Apps/PA/propertysearch/#/ and enter 2721 SW 28th Ave. in the search for address.

I emailed one person. The company address is a building that has been for sale for years and hasn't yielded any info yet. Still digging.

My apologies for the gap in response time. I found who I was looking for, but he won't respond to requests to have hos DNA tested if I send him a kit.


On the other hand another man I called not only said yes, he was excited about it. He has proved who my grandmother was. We are going to visit him and his wife later this year.

Update.

Regarding the man who would not respond (good movie title?) I spent a lot of time messaging with the man's son. During the back and forth his son started asking questions about me and why I was searching. After I sent him a picture of myself and a long message about the reason plus my phone number (I think he used one of those find a person sites to verify it was really me) he spent time talking to his father and his father has sent in a test.

Before he agreed to the test his father called me and of course I missed it. I called him back and had a good conversation. That talk confirmed my suspicions about them being leery. He said they thought it was a scam of some kind. I understand that, but DNA matching clearly showed that his son and I are related.

All I want is the results of his test. If he is my half first cousin then I have found my grandfather.

My grandmother was born in Ireland which means I can get Irish citizenship. We are going research the ramifications of doing so for taxes BCBS health care, etc. If everything works out I am going to do so. We can then spend longer in Europe than a visa allows. We've missed three trips there because of covid and at our age that 10 hour flight sucks.

Me too! I'm guessing about the middle of January if he sent the test in promptly.
