I did my taxes on TurboTax using the basic option which means I didn't pay for a program etc... And then a week later job told everyone that they are going to be mailing a W2C (corrected) one. I got it and the only difference is box 16. State wages, tips, etc... The corrected one is $341 dollars less than what I used on TurboTax. How can I fix this?

Oh yeah, for some reason all of the boxes are empty, the only ones that show difference is 16 for the past and 16 for the new corrected one.

Can I file Amended Form 1040X on basic TurboTax or do I have to upgrade and pay for a program? How do I even find out if this new corrected one will change my income tax?

Am I suppose to add another W-2 or edit the information on the one I already filed in order to do this correctly?

Exactly, you have to file an amended return. Just know that it flags you for an audit. You may not ever be audited, but just make sure you have everything in order just in case you get a call from the IRS. Good Luck!

Here are the tips from the IRS website: Ten Facts about Amended Returns

They only allow mailed amended returns.

I think the first thing I would do is plug in the different number and see what the actual change was. It may be less than actually purchasing the upgraded software.

Maybe you didn't read all the posts - but there is no upgrading software when you have to file an amended return. It is only allowed to be filed by mailing it in - it isn't a question about turbotax. Once you have to amend a return, electronic filing goes out the window.

I am in a similar situation to the OP. I filed using Turbo Tax and now have an ammended W2. Can't we use Turbo Tax to process the information and then print and mail? Thanks.

Am I suppose to add another W2 on TurboTax or just edit, correct the information that is needed? Add W2 is the only option, technically this is a W2C.

The job told us that they can't help us with this stuff, but they told us that the only information that changed is box 16. Which is state wages, tips, etc... Does this mean that I don't have to do anything for the Federal?
