I would like to know what was the best financial advise you have ever received.
And if there was one financial book you would recommend what would it be?

Never barrower or lender be. This is an old saying (that today is almost impossible).

pay yourself first, and increase your savings every time you get a raise

run your cars into the ground

and the obvious - if you can't pay the card off each month, don't use it.

Live within your means and don't borrow from a bank except in a dire emergency. Cut up your credit cards. For medical bills, payments can usually be arranged with no interest or finance charges. I have never had a credit card in my life.

Don't borrow from banks or lenders. Live according to what you make. Hopefully we can find a way to make housing self sufficient and extremely affordable. If not in this world, maybe in a perfect world. Where your food is grown in your home and the plants make your air fresh and clean, and your energy is produced by your own systems, and your water is collected for your family. No utility bills, no debt, no owing to banks and lenders, no real estate housing fees, and most of all not paying a lifetime to own your own home. Family Security. Even in times of economic crisis. Just pay your land taxes and that's it.

I could ramble on for days about quantitative analysis, computative finance, and interest rate derivative models, but I'll keep it simple.

There may not be a lot of gold in a gold rush; but you can sure make a lot of money selling shovels.

Never go into debt for anything except a house, a car or a student loan.

Never let your emotions make your financial decisions & never, ever, EVER let friends or relatives "borrow" money unless you don't want it back... As far as the book, "The Intelligent Investor."
