Whether it was made up by this poster or not, I guarantee you there are many out there who have had it happen. Irresponsible parents who ask their kids to help them out of a jam, while they go off and spend, spend, spend. True story, happens every day, regardless of whether it was true in this instance.
My husband's family did something similar. We didn't give them any money, but offered to let them move in with us rent free while they worked on getting back on their feet. We've already told them that's getting cut off this summer once the kids are done with school. That will be 2 years we let them live with us and paid for utilities, groceries, and the mortgage.
