So im a messenger and they put money on are pay check every week to buy train passes. And they list it as Expenses. How is this going to affect me next year when I do my taxes.

The money isn't being taxed right now. Should I save like 15% of it for tax time, next year? Or is this just tax free money I get to keep?

Expenses through payroll are generally not taxable. I had 10k+ last year and none of it was taxable

Please consult with your tax advisor

You're not gonna be taxed on it. They are simply giving you the money to buy a train pass. They are deducting it as a expense not you. It's simply written in your check to you to buy the pass. Normally expenses are written on a separate check.

It would be no different than say you going and buying the pass with your money and turning in the receipt and getting a reimbursement check.

Judging from your gross pay, you are probably going to get a refund of all your taxes anyway (unless you have income from another source).
