California people (or online bankers) --

So I am in search of a good credit union to join, here in CA (or an online credit union).

Here is the caveat -- I do not want to put my money in a checking account without overdraft protection, but I can not yet qualify for LOC due to credit issues.

Can someone recommend a good credit union that offers "Courtesy Pay" to their customers, that most anyone can join? This is where the CU covers overdrafts up to a set limit, and charges a fee to pay your items. (Most all CU offer this service).. Perhaps share your current situations, and what is offered in terms of overdraft protection and Courtesy Pay?

I have had too many issues with my banking in the past not to have some safety net. Please advise! Thank you all !

Why don't you just visit the one closest to you work location?

Watch out for overdraft protection. If some hacker access your account, the bank will have the authority to keep paying the hacker for ever and ever and ever, legally charging it against your account, and it might be nearly impossible to stop the bleeding, and the bank will have no incentive to help you stop it.. Because you signed an agreement authorizing the overdraft and paying all the penalty fees associated with it..
