Yes, I'm in some debt, but I never asked for this! 3 times now, I've gotten unwanted padded envelopes from United Debit Counselors. I guess CC companies handed over my info without my permission.
How do I stop these unwanted mailings without calling them & having to verify my address since I don't want to give this company ANY info! I guess I should be glad they're not calling me day & night too!

Not paying your bills is an invitation for a lot of unwanted attention.
What's inside are papers to try to get you to take part in their debt payback program. I guess once a person's a certain amount in debt, the credit card companies hand over people's personal info (without their authorization) over to these cheesy companies similar to debt consolidators.

Pay what you owe and it all goes away.
Who said I'm not paying my bills? I've never been late on anything in my life, much less skipped a bill entirely.

Do they send you a business reply envelope? If so, there's your answer: rip it all up, stuff it all in, and mail it all back to them in tatters. Why should you be burdened with disposing of someone else's garbage? Plus, it's very patriotic, raising important first class $ for the post office. You can hum the national anthem as you seal the overstuffed envelope, noting with satisfaction that its thickness and weight will cost them a lot more than a normal letter.
When I took out a home loan in Portland, within the month, the credit bureaus (not the bank) had sold the data on my mortgage to everyone and their cousin Ralph, and I was inundated with creepy mail trying to interest me in moving my mortgage to them. Whoever sent me a business reply envelope got all the day's garbage (envelopes included). It stopped very quickly and I haven't had one in a month.
OP back. If I get any more & I'm sure I will, I should write RETURN TO SENDER, NOT AT THIS ADDRESS, save up several envelopes at a time & mail them all back.
(Again, if you think I'm not paying my bills, look above at post #5.)

So you're in debt. You say you are current...maybe this is just a fluke that you got this mail and it really struck a chord with you.
I would say if you are that sensitive to junk mail, you might want to consider what the root problem is and address that. I am not a big fan of debt and went to the extreme to eliminate ALL of mine except my house...which was refinanced into a 15 year note...2 years ago.
Maybe call them and see how they got your information, why they are contacting you, and then if you don't like the answers, ask them to stop. You've posted this on several internet boards and have received similar answers (to not open, rts, etc).
midwestlaxer, yes my very first sentence in my OP said I'm in debt...but I pay them every month, so I'm not behind & never was.
Why do you say I've posted this on SEVERAL boards? I haven't. What, are you searching things on me?
Thanks for the GL though.
Ok then...I REMOVED THIS LINK.
Yep, definitely related to your woes.
