It's a video... It takes no effort on your part except just sitting there, listening, and watching.... It's in response to jotucker and his comment.

You do know that there is life outside of the internet and that even NOW, people make money in very "mediocre" ways...real estate...owning various business like car washes, laundramats, convenience stores....garbage pickup....it's a big wide world out there!...and it's mostly a PHYSICAL world

Uhmmmm....you don't have to be nationally known to become rich....or even known regionally....or even state wide....do you live under a rock, or only on the internet?

Agreed.

The authors of the book The Millionaire Next Door found that most millionaires got their fortunes by owning businesses. And they were typically made from what the authors called "dull/boring" businesses like the ones you describe.

Just take a look at the OP's posting history since he joined C/D 5 days ago and you'll have your answer.

Google is your friend. You could look up recently rich, pre internet success stories, even in technology. Bill Gates built a software Company. Steve Wozniack did the same thing. Mark Cuban started as a software integrator and reseller, before selling his first company for $6,000,000. Very few of the recently wealthy owe their success solely to the internet. Obviously website founders, online retailers, and things that directly support the internet (go pro comes to mind,) but for every app or website founder on the new billionaire list there is a casino magnate, Oil Bidnessman, Retailer, Hedge Fund manager, etc. The wealthiest guy from my HS class (we are under 30) was a kid who didn't go to college (or maybe went for a semester) and started a landscaping business, and then started buying real estate with his cash earnings in 2009 or so.

There are a lot more people who get rich doing really boring things like flipping real estate or landlording or opening a retail store than developing the next snapchat or Facebook.

Just as I suspected. The video has nothing to do with the thread title question, although it may possibly be relevant to poster Jotucker's comment. I am not going to sit for 41 minutes watching something that the first two minutes seems to indicate is inane drivel.

My cousin took a chance and became an unpaid employee with the chance of earning a partnership in a small company. 30 years later, he has bought out both partners and I assume he's rich, given he gives his children homes as graduation gifts. Like others stated, it's a dull and boring business making material gaskets for oven doors.
